Use license code in Open Source project?

We use your community edition for our Open Source project 'MapWindow GIS'.
Up to now, we've been using the installer to get the needed dlls.

Using the NuGet packages would be easier to maintain and other developers would be able to contribute much easier.
But this would require us to put the license key in the application startup which would be committed to GitHub.

Is this the recommended approach or should we stick with the installer?

We don't want to break your EULA.
