GTVirtualGrid BackgroundImage Alignment

All I want to do is align the background image to the bottom of the Grid. I thought I could simply override the OnPaint event and redraw the image with the correct coordinates (0, grid.bottom - image.height ) but that does not work.

For one, the background image is null when the code executes and I''m not sure why. The image is loaded into the resources, etc.

Besides that though, is there another way to align the background image to the bottom of the grid?
