-Support for different data sources (like Dataview , DataSet etc.) Yes, GridDataBoundGrid and GridGroupingControl. You can also use a GridControl in virtual mode and bind it to about anything. -Editable data grids allowing custom editing( e.g. allowing some rows or cols to be frozen as per the requirement) If by frozen, you mean non-scrollable, then frozen rows/columns are only supported on the top/left (opposite if you are in RTL mode). If you mean not editable, you can control this down to the cell level. -Caching and manner in which cache is handled I am not sure what you mean by this. If you use one of our bound grids, then the grid has support for caching user changes on a row basis, and then flushing these changes to the dataset as your user leaves the row. If you want more than this type of caching, then you would have to write code to handle this, but all the requisites events are available to allow you to hook into this process. -Scalability Again, I do not know exactly what you mean by this. But using a GridControl in virtual mode can handle essentially limitless data using data paging techniques.
