Summary Row

I would like to implement a summary row in the grid. As its name suggests, this row would contain summary information. There are two locations that this row can be positioned. (1) If the last row of the grid is showing then the summary row should be appended to the grid and be shown as the last row. That is the easy case. (2) if the grid is not scrolled to the bottom I would like to place the summary row at the bottom of the visible area (just above the horizontal scroll bar).

Can you recommend an easy way to do this or point me to a sample that does this fixed row at the bottom?
