Startup null-pointer exception in syncfusion

This error occurs seemingly at random when running my project in Debug config.

There''s no source-code for the excepting location, despite the fact that I''m compiling my test project against project-references to Grid, Grid.Grouping, Grouping and Shared.

Interestingly, the debug output suggests that the .NET runtime is loading syncfusion DLLs from the GAC; I don''t understand this because my solution contains the syncfusion projects and my test app contains project references, not GAC references.
