Can a single development machine run both 1.6 & 2.1?

Unfortunately I need to be able to maintain code based on Essential Suite 1.6 and develop new code using Essential Suite 2.1. Is there a way to have both installed on my machine and somehow tell Visual Studio .NET 2003 to use 1.6 with one solution and 2.1 with the other??
