Toolbar with type "Expand" - how to get access to the change of toolbar display to MultiLine and back?

We use ejRTE with a Toolbar of type "Expand". Now we have to adjust child content element size(s) depending if the toolbar is displayed expanded or multi-lined (user click the "dropdown" - expand toolbar tool to show more tools and click again to hide. 

How can we get access to this event/change of toolbar display?
