while using filter in grid only for first time filter is filtering correctly

while using filter in grid only for first time filter is filtering correctly if i go and edit the filter without clearing the previously entered text its showing No match found

for eg:

first time i am going and entering the text 'p' the name starts with 'p' is filtered again if i go and enter the text 'r' without clearing the text which i entered previously (i.e) the text 'p' its showing  no match found i need to get filtered if i go and edit the filter again.
