Thanks for providing the sample files. I was also not able to open "test2.xls". I have forwarded the issue to the development team. This issue will be fixed in the next release. Sorry for the inconveniences caused. Thanks.

>As I expand the scope of my implementation, I now see that I cannot open (via ExcelUtils.Open) an xls file that has a cell reference to a cell in a different xls file. The .Open blows before I get a chance to cycle through the cell formulas.
