Hi Customer,
Thank you for contacting Syncfusion support.
Regarding Word to PDF conversion in ASP.NET Core:
DocIO uses the System.Drawing and GDI functionality for Word to PDF conversion. Since the unavailability of this functionality in ASP.NET Core, currently DocIO does not have support for direct Word to PDF conversion in ASP.NET Core.
Alternative approach:
Alternatively, we have used service approach in Word to PDF conversion. We have prepared a sample to convert the Word document as PDF in ASP.NET Core Preview 2 using WCF service.
Please find the WCF service sample from below link:
http://www.syncfusion.com/downloads/support/forum/127227/ze/WordToPDF_WcfService252837387.zip
Please find the ASP.NET Core sample which uses the above WCF sample as service reference for PDF conversion from below link:

Hi Tobias,
Thank you for your update.
As mentioned in our previous update, Essential DocIO uses the System.Drawing and GDI functionality for Word to PDF conversion. Since the unavailability of this functionality in ASP.NET Core, currently DocIO does not have support for direct Word to PDF conversion in ASP.NET Core.
We do have a plans to analyze and do implementation on this feature based on the availability of above mentioned functionality in ASP.NET Core. At this moment we cannot provide any concrete timeline for this feature. We will let you know once this feature has been implemented.
As a work around, you can use the service approach as mentioned in our previous update for Word to PDF conversion in ASP.NET Core.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Please tell me you have a timeline for this feature now. I sold a client on your software not realizing this conversion wasn't in .NET Core yet.

Hi Tobias,
Thank you for your update.
Currently we are in progress with analyzing the feasibility for Word to PDF conversion in ASP.NET Core. We have resolved few of our existing limitation by using CoreCompact and ImageShaper Nugets but we are yet to finalize the optimized solution for the conversion. At this moment, we cannot provide any concrete timeline for this feature. We will let you know once this feature has been implemented.
