Alt + Numeric doesn't work in GridControl when hosted in WPF application

When hosting a GridControl inside a WindowsFormsHost WPF control I encounter the following issues when using alt+numeric:
  1. If first character is an alt+numeric, then it doesn't work at all.
  2. If I type a character then enter an alt+numeric it works, however if control loses focus and gains it back again, alt+numeric stops working.

I don't think that's the problem because applying the workaround suggested in that post doesn't fix either of the issues.
