I have a dataset with 2 related tables. The rows in the first table are bound to controls on the form, and the rows in the related table are bound to the GDBG.
Initially the dataset is empty and the BindingContext`s Position is of course -1, but when I add a row in the first table (the related second table remains empty) a "Databinding could not find a row in the list that is suitable for all bindings exception is thrown".
If I use instead a .net DataGrid, it works fine but because it lacks in functionality, I cannot use that.

I tried to reproduce this in the attached sample. It seemed to behave OK both in the 1618 and 2030 code bases. Does it work for you? What are you doing differently?
