How to update to latest Syncfusion 2014 vol 1

Hi 

I have a MVC 5 project which using Syncfusion 2013 vol 4. It uses Grid component and other basic controls like DatePicker, Dropdonwlist etc.

Now I downloaded latest Syncfusion 2014 vol 1 and installed on my PC. I found out that Syncfusion team included a new ASP.Net MVC Controls. Could you let me know what I need to do to update my existing project to the latest Syncfusion version?

Hi Jing,

Previously, we shipped the extensions in Essential Studio itself. Now there is an individual setup that contains all Syncfusion ASP.NET MVC Extensions for Visual Studio. It is available from Volume 1 2014 (v12.1.0.43) release.

You have to install the set up from the below location to use extensions.

http://www.syncfusion.com/downloads/extension/v12.1.0.43

This setup  contains the following features.

1.       New Project Wizard for ASP.NET MVC

2.       New Project Wizard for ASP.NET MVC(Classic)

3.       Conversion and Migration Wizard for ASP.NET MVC(Classic)

4.       Sample Creator tool forASP.NET MVC(Classic)

Note: Before you install Extension Setup, you have to install anyone of the following studio. Please ignore this if you already installed it.

·         Essential Studio for Enterprise Edition with the platforms ASP.NETMVC  or ASP.NET MVC(Classic)

·         Essential Studio for ASP.NET MVC

·         Essential Studio for ASP.NET MVC (Classic)

Once you install this extension, you will create a new Syncfusion project.

 

Please follow the below steps to update your existing project into latest Syncfusion version.

 

     1. Open your existing project .  

       2. Right click on your Project Solution explorer . 

       3. Choose Syncfusion VS Extensions in context menu.

       4. Then click Migrate to Syncfusion MVC Application (Classic)

 

           

 

 

       5. Select the Essential Studio version for which you need to migrate.

 

            

 

      6. Click Upgrade .  

      7. The project will be migrated as selected Essential studio version.

 

Note : Conversion and Migration wizard only for ASP MVC (Classic). We will provide the Conversion and Migration wizard support in  Volume 2, 2014 release.

Thank you for your reply. The extension works for me. Just have another question about Themes, previous I am using office207Silver as my main theme. However the new ASP .Net MVC doesn't have it anymore. Could I still use the old theme in latest Syncfusion version? if yes, could you let me know to apply it?

Hi Jing,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. We could not make use of the old theme in the ASP.NET MVC (latest version). But, it is possible to create custom themes for ASP.NET MVC components.  We can achieve it by overriding the existing theme of ASP.NET MVC components to create a custom theme like office207Silver.
