Road Map for Essential Studio Document SDK

Road Map for Essential Studio® Document SDK

.NET Excel Library

Chart-to-image conversion

This feature allows users to retain manual layouts for legends, axis titles, and plot areas in chart-to-image conversions. Chart elements are accurately represented in the resulting image, providing higher fidelity to the original Excel charts.

Pivot slicer

This feature allows users to filter pivot tables interactively within Excel workbooks. This enables quick and intuitive filtering of pivot data, making reports more dynamic and user-friendly.

Place-in-cell for images

This feature allows pictures to behave like cell content rather than floating objects. When enabled, images will move and resize automatically with their associated cells for better alignment in Excel worksheets.

.NET PDF Library

Linearized PDF creation

This feature lets users create linearized PDF documents optimized for fast web viewing.

SVG-to-PDF conversion

This feature allows users to convert SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) files into PDF documents. It enables SVG content such as icons, logos, charts, and diagrams to be rendered as high‑quality, resolution‑independent graphics in PDFs while preserving their visual appearance and layout.

Enhancements in PDF text extraction

Upcoming improvements include:

  • Asynchronous text extraction: Async APIs enable nonblocking operations, enhancing scalability and responsiveness.
  • Cancellation token integration: Gracefully cancel long-running extraction tasks.
  • Performance optimization: Faster extraction for large and complex PDF files.
  • Memory efficiency: Reduced memory footprint during text extraction for better resource management.

JavaScript PDF Library

Digital signatures

This feature allows users to implement PAdES digital signatures, LTV support, and signature validation for signature verification.

PDF text elements

This feature provides flow-based text rendering with layout results, automatic pagination, and multi-column creation. It supports text, lists, and structured elements seamlessly.

Compression support

This feature allows users to optimize images to reduce file size, optimize embedded fonts and page content, strip metadata, shorten frequent patterns, and delete unnecessary spaces.

Encryption

This feature lets users create and modify password-protected PDFs, allowing the programmatic setting or changing of passwords, permissions, and security properties at runtime.

PDF headers and footers

This feature allows users to render flexible headers and footers with dynamic placeholders (page numbers, dates, titles), styling controls, and per-page or per-section rules.

XMP metadata

This feature allows users to add full XMP support to embed and edit metadata. The feature supports core schemas, custom schemas, image XMP, extraction, and metadata removal APIs.

PDF grid drawing

This feature provides grid drawing with nested grids, pagination-aware layout, cell-level styling, and support for mixed content like text, images, structured lists.

.NET Smart Data Extraction Library

PDF-to-Markdown conversion

This feature allows users to convert PDF documents into clean, structured Markdown output. The goal is to provide developers with flexible formatting options while preserving document semantics, including text, headings, images, and tables.

OCR customization settings

This feature allows users to configure OCR parameters within the Smart Data Extraction library, enabling flexible control over recognition behavior. These customization settings improve extraction accuracy and give developers greater control over how text is detected and converted into structured JSON output.

.NET Word Library

Digital signatures

This feature creates, validates, and preserves digital signatures within DOCX documents, ensuring document authenticity and integrity using industry‑standard certificates. Digital signatures and their status will be accurately preserved during DOCX to PDF and image conversions, making this feature essential for secure enterprise, legal, and compliance‑driven workflows.

CSS attributes in HTML-to-Word conversion

The HTML-to-Word conversion utilizing the CSS style attributes ensures that complex HTML structures retain their original formatting in Word documents, minimizing visual discrepancies and preserving design fidelity.

Enhanced conversion of Word files to PDFs and images

Text borders

In conversion of Word files to PDFs and images, documents with bordered text maintain their original structure and visual emphasis,d preserving the intended design in the converted output.

.NET PowerPoint Library

Embedded fonts in PowerPoint conversions

Conversion of PowerPoints to PDFs and images utilizes fonts embedded within the source presentation. This ensures accurate text rendering and preserves the original design, delivering high-fidelity output that matches the author’s intent.
