Introduction
Paul Cresham is a software developer with 25 years of experience in the field, with the last 10 spent overseeing data and software engineering teams at a major company. Just over a year ago, Paul got the opportunity to strike out with another developer to create a SaaS startup, called Nabuza Ltd. They’ve been working on a data platform for SMEs.
Problem
When building a scenarios module for a client, Paul needed a pivot container. His first thought was to look at Telerik, since he’d used their components in a previous job. But he also remembered the experience not being amazing and his fellow developers complaining about it, so he decided to see what else was out there.

Results
Paul found Syncfusion and its Pivot Table component. “I thought: this does exactly what I need,” he said.
Then, he found Syncfusion’s Community License, which was also exactly what his two-man company needed while still getting off the ground.
After a good experience integrating the Pivot Table, Paul realized that he now had all the pieces he needed to bring the dashboarding part of their platform in-house, too. The analytics platform they were using, Apache Superset, was clunky to work with. They had to run programs like Dremio in the background, deploy infrastructure into Azure to host it, run it in a container, and sync data between their platform and Superset. He said, “It was just headaches.”
So, he and his partner built an analytics module using Essential Studio® components. “It’s gone from being very, very clunky workarounds and building out things ourselves to just putting in something that works and configuring it,” he said. “It was 100% the right decision, because it’s just so much more powerful with us being in control of the platform.”
They’ve used the DataGrid, Pivot Grid, Heat Map, and several series from the Charts component. Paul appreciates the breadth and maturity of the components, finding them well tested and responsive. They’re easy to plug in, the documentation is really good, and the MCP server works well to answer his questions.
“I’ve generally found when I’ve wanted to solve a problem, there’s already a built-in event or method to solve that,” he said. “So, we haven’t had to invent things around [the components].”
Conclusion
Paul Cresham believes that, without Syncfusion’s components, it would have taken Nabuza several months to develop the charts they needed just to a basic level. They didn’t consider a dashboarding module feasible if they had to build it from scratch. Developing their own module with Syncfusion’s mature tools allowed them to narrow down their third-party dependencies and streamline their client’s whole platform. “It is really a much slicker solution,” he said.
