My Current Role

As General Manager – Kisumu Administration, I oversee the operations of a 530+ member office, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and high standards of performance. I provide leadership across teams, foster a collaborative work environment and maintain visibility across all functions; even as several teams report to remote Managers and global leadership. My role focuses on driving operational excellence, supporting employee engagement, and ensuring seamless coordination between local teams and their international overseers.

My Experience Throughout My Journey

This could include my life experiences, challenges overcome, personal growth, and lessons learned.

About Me

I see myself as someone steady and approachable, and I genuinely like seeing others grow. I naturally step in to support people and help lift them up, and I take pride in their success. It makes me happy to watch others move forward and do well.

I value myself as a coach to people in any field where I can be of help and additionally, I carry the courage to adapt, step into new cultures, and keep learning.

My Early Career Journey

After completing SSC (Secondary School Certificate), I joined the iconic Taj Mahal Hotel – Bombay as a Trade Apprentice through a structured program under the Ministry of Labor’s Apprentices Act, combining classroom learning with hands-on experience across various departments. This exposure gave me a deep understanding of hospitality ecosystem end to end, something even formal hotel management programs often cannot replicate.

During my time with the Taj group, I was a part of the opening team for several projects primarily setting up room service operations for new properties, which later became my area of specialization. I had the opportunity to interact with global icons and  influential individuals including heads of state; I was gaining real-world insights beyond books and media reports.

I continued my education, completing a BA in Economics and Psychology from Bombay University, and later pursued Master’s in Tourism Management.

Stepping Into New Journey

After decades of professional loyalty to the hospitality industry, changing from the beaten path into the Tech Industry is a paradigm shift.

Yet for me, career has never really been about managing hotels or businesses. It is about building people, building organizations, and building dreams.

For me, work has always been a continuous learning process, with the goal of encouraging people, building enthusiasm, helping everyone do better, and supporting the organization’s growth.

Challenge that Strengthened Me

Leaving the Taj Mahal Hotel, Bombay after 12 years for a move to Oman was one of the most difficult phases of my life, and even now, it feels emotional to think about it. The decision was driven by my family’s financial situation.

At that time, my career was progressing steadily with growth and promotions, so choosing to leave meant stepping away from stability into uncertainty.

The decision to move out of my comfort zone strengthened me and built a strong foundation that gave me the confidence to adapt to new cultures, environments, and opportunities.

What Drives Me to Work

What keeps me going is that sense of eagerness within me as a problem solver; trust placed in me, and the responsibility of supporting and leading young talent is a strong source of motivation.

I look forward to each new day and to stepping into the office as early as possible. The kind of energy I carry. I see each day and each moment as an opportunity, and I put that energy into finding ways to make a difference. In doing so, I’m helping myself as well. The biggest joy I get from doing what I do is keeping myself productive and useful.
