CHAPTER 14

In Conclusion

In Conclusion

What We Learned:

In this e-book we looked at Microsoft Prism 4 and how it relates to Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). We learned the different features that Microsoft Prism 4 exposes and talked in general about their functionally.

We then learned where to find Prism 4 and the other programs that are needed to build Prism 4 solutions.

In chapter 3 we built a barebones Prism 4 startup solution.

Next we took a look at the Virtual Calculator demonstration solution.  We looked at the solution project by project and spoke briefly about each one.

We then looked at dependency injection and the bootstrapper class. We talked about the composition root of WPF solutions and looked at some of the bootstrapper code.

We next looked at the solution's shell forms. We spoke about XAML and looked at how Prism4 regions integrate with forms and views.

In the next chapter we took a slight detour and looked at Model View - View Model (MVVM). Views, View Models and models were explained and we saw examples of these classes.

Next we looked at Prism 4 regions. Unlike in other chapters, we looked in detail at regions and how they are used in Prism 4 solutions.

We next learned about Prism 4 modules and how they fit into the Prism 4 equation.

After looking at modules we looked at Prism 4 communications. The next two chapters were devoted to commanding and event aggregation.

We then looked at Prism 4 navigation. We saw how it integrates into WPF solutions and learned about the different types of navigation.

The last chapter was devoted to the Virtual Calculator solution and some of the Prism 4 and other constructs that we had yet to talk about.

Microsoft Prism 4 is designed to help developers to build well architected XAML based solutions. Hopefully this book will help in your study of Prism 4 and WPF.
