OfficeSplitButton merge to AuxPanel

I've looked at the Word2007 sample, and i can see that when you drop the OfficeMenu, and hover over "Save As", a sub-menu appears but it replaces the "Recent Files" in the AuxPanel.

I tried to copy this behaviour, by adding an OfficeSplitButton to my project, and i added drop-down items, but when i hover over the button it just displays a seperate sub-menu, and not merged into the AuxPanel.

Can anyone tell me what property/method/behaviour allows me to accomplish this?

I am mistaken, at first glance it looked like the sub-menu had merged into the AuxPanel, but on closer inspection it just pops up over it.
