DocIO timeout opening file

I have a .docx file generated in Work 2007 that causes WordDocument.Open(filepath, FormatType.Docx) to go into an infite loop. Has anyone encountered this? Is there a way to set a timeout value in DocIO? I cannot attach the file as it is a customer's file, but any help would be appreciated.

Hi Alan,

Thank you for your interest in Essential DocIO.

We didn't face this kind of issue in docx. Without having the file we can't reproduce the issue in our end. Could please create a simple document to reproduce the issue, this would be helps to investigate more on this issue.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,
Bhuvana

I narrowed it down to a series of bulleted paragraphs in a resume. I think it might be the bullet character at the beginning of the paragraph. When I change the font to something else I get an unrecognized character box. If I change the font back to Times New Roman I also get an unrecognized character box.
