Hi Leo,
Thank you for your interest in our products

If your intension is to have plain text configuration in EditControl this can be achieved by creating a custom config file with any name without any lexeme definition in it.
Please have a look at the below sample without any syntax highlighting:
http://websamples.syncfusion.com/samples/Edit/F71507/main.htm

Kindly try this and let me know if you need further assistance.

Regards,
Jisha

Is it still possible to access the sample? When I click on the link I get a "Oops! This link appears to be broken." message.

Thanks.

Mark

I have been able to take the config.xml from the CustomConfigFile and get it chopped down enough that the text is no longer being colored.

Thanks.

Mark
