Right-click in editcontrol loses selection?

Right clicking on an EditControl causes the currently selected text to be deselected. This appears to happen in example code provided with the EditControl.

This seems to defeat the purpose of having edit tools as options in a context menu (which the example code does as well) as thing such as cut/paste/copy cannot work if nothing is selected.

Is there a method to prevent the deselection of text when a context menu is right-clicked? If so, example code should be updated to reflect it.
