Dynamically add rows of child table as columns of parent

I need to allow users to create their own custom attributes which will be appended to the parent table's columns. Each user will have their own unique collection of attributes. For example, if my user wants to create an attribute named "color" I want to be able to add that as a column to the grid, and also track the values entered for the new column.

Any ideas or samples would be appreciated.
