Exported URI annotation is not imported on PDF Webviewer

I'm trying to generate URI annotation from ASP.NET core server and export annotation to json annotation then import it into PDF Webviewer but it's not showing at all in the webviewer, on my demo code I can only see a square without text of the URI on the PDF.

We were able to reproduce the reported issue with the provided details on our end and currently we are analyzing on this and will update the further details by April 16th, 2026.

We have confirmed the issue “Link annotation is not preserved after importing the annotation in json format” as a defect in our product and we will include the fix in weekly release on 5th May 2026.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused

Due to stability concerns, we were unable to include the fix in this weekly release. We will include the fix in our upcoming weekly release on 12th May 2026.

Root Cause:

The reported issue occurs because the link annotation is not handled while importing the annotation in JSON format

I still can't see the URI annotation on both PDF and Webviewer, here is what I did

1. dotnet add package Syncfusion.Pdf.Net.Core --version 33.2.6
2. dotnet run

Thank you for the update. After using the shared code, the hyperlink annotations are now added correctly in the output PDF document. We have attached a video for your reference.

Additionally, please note that support for importing hyperlinks into the Syncfusion JavaScript PDF Viewer is currently not available. Could you please confirm whether your requirement is to view the hyperlinks in the Syncfusion JavaScript PDF Viewer by importing them as JSON, or by loading the output PDF document generated after processing it using the PDF library?

This information will help us provide a more accurate solution that best fits your requirement

please note that support for importing hyperlinks into the Syncfusion JavaScript PDF Viewer is currently not available

You should have said this a month ago, we've been waiting for a month for nothing

it's super easy to add uri annotation in Appryse for both server SDK and Web viewer

Thank you for your patience. We have analyzed the feasibility and logged this as a feature request titled “Import hyperlink annotations in the EJ2 PDF Viewer.”

 

This feature will be implemented in one of our upcoming releases, as several enhancements and improvements are currently planned in our roadmap. We will keep you informed once this feature is available.
