Combobox with ShowBorders off shows smaller borders on ios

Using a combobox with show borders set to false causes ios to have a smaller border around just the text component. I had initially followed this article to add a custom border to the control, but had to revert it as I was unable to remove the borders on iOS. These boxes behave differently when selection is set to multiple as seen in the second combobox in the screenshot, After selecting anything in the multi select the box disappears and the combobox shrinks in height.
