EmbedFonts broken, bloating PDF and removing buttons
Originally I have an issue with Umlaute, German characters, not being displayed properly when filling form field values with Syncfusion.Pdf.WinForms.31.2.12.
EmbedFonts helps with the visual aspect but seems broken in 2 respects:
File size increases from 90k to 20MB
Buttons are removed

I’ve encountered similar problems when generating PDFs for web content and have found that optimizing how assets are loaded and referenced makes a big difference.

We have successfully addressed the issue “Buttons are removed.” However, due to certain stability concerns identified during validation, we are unable to include the fix in this week’s release. Our team is actively working to ensure that the resolution is fully stable and does not introduce any regressions. The fix is planned to be included in the upcoming weekly release scheduled for January 13, 2026.
Regarding the other issue, “File size increases from 90 KB to 20 MB,” the increase occurs because the current implementation supports only complete font embedding. This results in embedding full glyph sets into the document, which significantly increases the file size. At the moment, we do not have support for font‑subset embedding for non‑embedded fonts during the font embedding process.
We are currently analyzing feasible solutions to optimize and reduce the file size without affecting document fidelity. We will share further updates on our findings by January 8, 2026.

Regarding this issue, “File size increases from 90 KB to 20 MB” the increase occurs because the current implementation supports only complete font embedding. This results in embedding full glyph sets into the document, which significantly increases the file size. At the moment, we do not have support for font‑subset embedding for non‑embedded fonts during the font embedding process. For this, we have logged a new feature request in our product. We don’t have any immediate plan to implement this in our end. We will let you know when this feature is implemented.

Root Cause: The issue occurs due to a field flag value mismatch during font embedding, and improper dereferencing when retrieving button field properties.

As for file size: there should have been a single font, though I am not 100%ly sure a font would be roughly 20MB large?
I created the file so long ago but I think it was a single font, regular font, which according to Google should be around 1MB for full em
