Search for uppercase accents like é vs É
Hello,
is there a way to be able to search for words with accents with specific upper case letters?
For example, I would like to search for "École" or "école", my search needs to be case sensitive.
- Screenshot 1 shows that I am searching for "dÉcrits" and it doesn't find it
- Screenshot 2 shows that I am searching for "décrits" and it finds it.
- in both examples the match case is unchecked
I'm using the WPF PdfViewer control in a winform application, and the search I am talking about is the on embedded within the tool.
Thanks for any help

Hi Melki,
We are currently using Pdfium to retrieve search results from PDF document pages. However, the results provided by Pdfium are not accurate. We are actively investigating this issue in detail on our end and require additional time to analyze it thoroughly. We will provide you with an update by November 12, 2025

Hi Melki,
We use PDFium for rendering and text extraction in our WPF PdfViewer control. After further validation, we found that the search results from PDFium for specific accented characters are incorrect. Currently, we are working on creating a simple sample to report this issue to the respective team. We have logged this as a bug and will continue investigating further. We will update you shortly.
Hi Melki,
We have reported this issue on the Pdfium public forum and have sent them a follow-up reminder. We will keep you updated as soon as we receive any response or updates from their team.

I wanted to get back to this thread and say that with one of the latest updates the issue is no longer happening.
Hi Melki,
Based on the Pdfium forum ticket, they suggested upgrading to the latest version. We are currently using Chromium 6945. Once we update to the latest version, we will need to check the stability of our control after the upgrade.
At present, we do not have any immediate plans to implement this. During the planning stage for each release cycle, we review all open features and prioritize them based on feature rank, customer request count, and the volume of the wish list.
The status of
implementation can be tracked through the feedback portal link below:
