Incorrect Paste Position in Comment Section

Hi,

I have an issues when pasting text into the comment (review) panel of the Document Editor using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V, the pasted content does not appear at the current caret (cursor) position. Instead, it is inserted at the wrong location (e.g., shifted to the start or end of the comment box).

- This issue occurs inside the comment section.
- Pasting content into the main document body still works as expected.

Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Open the EJ2 Document Editor.
  2. Insert a new comment.
  3. Ctrl+C any text in that comment or another comment
  4. Place the caret in the middle or any position of the comment text.
  5. Press Ctrl+V to paste some copied text.

Notes

  • The issue was reproduced on both Edge and Chrome, latest versions.

  • The problem is consistent and does not depend on the clipboard source (text copied from inside the editor or external applications).

  • This bug affects to my work usability when working with comments and reviewing documents.

If so, kindly provide an ETA for a fix ASAP or any temporary workaroundIf not, we would appreciate guidance on configuration (e.g., enableLocalPaste or related settings) that might help mitigate this problem.

Product Version: Latest (as of October 2025)
Browsers: Microsoft Edge (latest), Google Chrome (latest)
OS: Windows 10/11

Feedback Link:

https://www.syncfusion.com/feedback/70704/resolve-the-copied-content-pasting-issue-in-comment-pane

Root cause:

When  pasting the content into the Comment pane, the pasted text is always appended to the end of the existing comment, regardless of the current caret (cursor) position. This behavior disrupts the user experience, especially when attempting to paste content at a specific location within the comment.

I’ve run into similar odd behavior with the comment panel before, and it does seem like the cursor position isn’t being respected during paste actions. Since it’s consistent across browsers, it definitely sounds like something on the editor side rather than a local setup problem. As a temporary workaround, you might try pasting using the right-click context menu instead of Ctrl+V, or typing a character first and then pasting to “anchor” the cursor, though I know that’s not ideal. Hopefully the team can confirm and provide a fix soon because this would be pretty disruptive for regular review workflows.  Geometry Vibes

Hi Russon,

As mentioned in our previous update, we have resolved the cursor‑position issue when pasting content in the comment pane. Starting from version 32.2.5, the pasted content is now correctly inserted at the cursor position using Ctrl+V. We have also shared a video demonstrating how this works.

Since you mentioned that you are still experiencing a similar pasting issue in comments, we kindly request the following details so we can investigate the issue on your side:

  1. Please provide the replication steps or a video demonstration of the issue.
  2. Kindly share the input document in which you are experiencing the problem.
  3. Specify your platform and the Document Editor version you are using.
  4. We have shared a stability sample in the latest version(v33.1.44) of the Document Editor. Kindly try to reproduce the issue in the provided sample and share the details.

Sample: Prrsk9t7 (duplicated) - StackBlitz

This information will help us analyze the issue further and provide an appropriate solution.
