How to not clip long cell text that spans multiple columns (when neighbor columns are blank)

I have a spreadsheet that looks like below (in Google Sheets):

When I render this XLSX in the React Spreadsheet component, cells A1, B4, B5 are "clipped". 

However, given that cells B1, C1, C4, C5 are all empty, is there a way to allow the text to "overflow" into its neighbors, similar to how Google Sheets handles long text in cells?

However, we have confirmed this as an improvement and logged it as a feature. It will be available in any of our upcoming releases.
