Hi Aitbouhou,

After reviewing the provided document, we found that the "Calibri" font is applied to the symbol in the input Word document. However, the Microsoft Word application uses the "Segoe UI Symbol" font for the symbol instead of the "Calibri" font in converted PDF because the "Calibri" font does not contain a glyph for the symbol.

Currently, DocIO does not support automatic font detection in Word to PDF conversion. We have already logged these as a feature request in our database. We will implement these features in any of our upcoming releases and we don’t have any immediate plans to implement these features.

You can track the status of this feature using the following feedback link:
Support to detect font hint type automatically for text in WinForms | Feedback Portal

As a workaround, we suggest you set “Segoe UI Symbol” font directly in the input Word document using Microsoft Word application and then convert to PDF using DocIO. Please find the attached modified Word document.

After converting it to PDF using the modified input, the symbol is preserved, but its color is not retained. We have reproduced this issue on our end and will validate the “Symbol color not preserved while converting Word document to PDF” problem. We will provide more details within two days.

Regards,
Dharanya.

Aitbouhou, on further analysis, it has been identified that the provided Word document contains emojis with skin tone variations. Unfortunately, due to limitations in the PDF library, rendering these emojis with skin tone colors is not supported. The PDF format itself does not provide specifications for rendering such color variations. Similar constraints are observed across other PDF libraries. As a result, during the Word to PDF conversion process, only generic emojis without skin tone variations can be rendered.
