Tooltips for menu items in collaspe sidebar

Is it possible to add a tooltip to a menu item? I have a sfmenu in a sidebar with only top level items. When the sidebar is collapsed only the icons for the menu items are visible. What I like to do is display a tooltip for the menu item title when hovering over the menu item icon.
