Multiple hierarchies after async refresh

Question

I am getting treeview hierarchy based on async api call that is populating variable that is list of items.

I need to refresh the whole treeview, so I am executing new async call that is populating the same variable.

This shows up as another hierarchy in the list, where old is without any changes, and new added below old one is reflecting all the changes. What am i doing wrong?
