When using drag and drop with Synchronous Upload only a null/blank HttpPostedFileBase is uploaded. 

If I use the browse method then the selected files are uploaded as expected.

How do I get drag and drop to work properly?

We can able to reproduce the reported issue in our end. We considered it as bug and it will be included in volume 2 SP1 Release.

This temporary solution seems to break the ability to sequentially add files to the upload "list".

We have fixed the reported issue at our end in the release version 17.2.41. So, we suggest you to update your package version instead of using provided work around solution in the previous update to get rid of the reported issue at your end.
