Unable to install Winforms 16.2.0.41

Hi,

I tried to install community edition 16.2.0.41 for Winforms without success.
Tried .EXE, .ZIP, the install program seems to execute correctly but nothing is installed. No samples are copied, nothing is installed. Also, in windows "Product and features" there is no entry for Syncfusion installation.

Tried Webinstaller has the same result, but at the last screen shows "Installation Failed" and gives a log file. Looking at the file I see the following suspicious lines:

MSI (s) (C0:BC) [12:06:28:003]: Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Syncfusion Essential Studio for Windows Forms 16.2.0.41. Product Version: 16.2.0.41. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Syncfusion. Installation success or error status: 1603.

Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Users\Public\Desktop.  The installation cannot continue.  Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.

Platform is Windows 10, VS2017 and I run the installers as administrator.

Thanks in advance

Hi Manuel,

Thanks for contacting Syncfusion support.

After checking your installer log status, we came to know that “C:\User\Public\Desktop” folder doesn’t have full permission to access it. So please ensure that Desktop folder have full permission.

Follow the below link to check and change the permission for the directory.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-files-winpc/how-to-give-permission-to-the-folders-on-windows/db6bc6d2-750e-4da0-b616-252926c44ffd

Please try to install the Syncfusion setup after changing the permission for the desktop folder and let us know whether the setup has been installed or not?

Hi,

Solved changing the target for samples.
I verified that my user can't write to C:\User\Public\Desktop”. I have a clean installation of Windows 10 (changed my laptop a few days ago) so I think the problem is related to default settings and not to something unique in my computer.
Also, "googling" about, it seems that permissions on this folder are producing lot of issues.

best regards

Hi Manuel,

You should provide necessary permission in your machine for installing the Syncfusion Essential Studio setup. As your Desktop folder doesn’t have sufficient permission, Essential Studio installation was failed while creating the Desktop shortcut for Syncfusion control panel. So, please check with your network team and provide necessary permission for your machine.

After providing sufficient permission, you can install the Syncfusion Essential Studio setup successfully.

Regards,
Manivannan S.

Have you downloaded the updated version of the application or your device is updated in which you are trying to download? Because sometimes this kind of error occurs due to the updation issue or you can take suggestions from hp Canada support in details or also for any further query.
