How to add date sorting in grid?

After adding allowSorting and sorting type as menu it works fine for column named as Name,city because field is of text type but at the same time how to sort column which contains data as datetime?

Thanks for contacting Syncfusion Support. 

If allowSorting property of ejGrid is set as true, sorting of date column will also work properly. Also you have mentioned that you have set sorting type as menu, but we do not have  this property in sorting feature of grid. So could you please provide more details on this query.
