Android Map Performance Issues

Question

I currently have a xamarin forms project that has an sfmaps instance within a navigation page that is experiencing performance issues (skipped frames) on android. The page also has a listview, picker, and segmented control and is using the usa_states.shp file. The performance has not changed since the release of SP1.

Hi Andrew, 
 
We have analyzed your query, while scrolling frames skips due to the time delay in reading the shapefile. Initially when Maps loaded shape file has been read, and hence there is no delay. When scrolling down to up in SfListView, existing instance of maps become null and created again which leads to time delay in reading the shape file. Currently we are improving performance for SfMaps in SfListView and include in our upcoming volume 2 main release which is expected to be released out by the mid of May 2018. We appreciate your patience until then.

Just to be clear, the map is not in a list view, it is in a navigation page that also contains a list view below the map. Frames are lost when navigating to/from the page or scrolling the list view.

We have analysed your query and we were able to reproduce the issue. We have logged bug report regarding maps performance. We will improve the performance for maps and will include the fix in our upcoming volume 2 main release which is expected to be rolled out by the end of May 2018.
