2018 volume 1 - OCR as separate download - where?

Hi,

In the release notes of the Essential Studio 2018 volume 1, just released, for the PDF it is stated:

Breaking Changes

  • OCR is not a part of Essential Studio and is available as separate installer.


I cannot seem to find the documentation on how this affects my current code. Please advise.

Hi Johannes, 

Sorry for the delay. These changes will not affect your current code and you can download OCR processor package for the product version 16.1.0.24 from the below link,

Thank you for the update.

As this is not an installer. What is the best way to install the assemblies for OCR?

Hi Johannes, 
Yes, it is actually an package which contains all the necessary assemblies related to OCR(TessData, Tesseract Binaries and Syncfusion Assemblies). If your requirement is to install the required assemblies in GAC location you can achieve it by using gacutil command. 
Eg: gacutil Syncfusion.OCRProcessor.Base.dll
