Should we use version 1 or 2?

We are starting to do some proof of concepts / initial projects with SyncFusions's Essential library.
We like the breadth of components we see with version 1.
We like the lack of dependencies / ES6 support of version 2 (preview).
The problem is we don't see as many components available with version 2, at least based on the demo site -- e.g. TreeMap charting component.
So my questions are:
  • Is Syncfusion fully committed to bringing all the components available in version 1 to version 2?
  • If so, what is the ballpark time for that to be completed?
  • Is it too early to be using version 2 in a production setting?

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for your interest in Essential JS 2 products.

Please find the response.

1. Is Syncfusion fully committed to bringing all the components available in version 1 to version 2?
Yes, we are fully committed to bringing the remaining components to Essential JS 2.
2. If so, what is the ballpark time for that to be completed?
We will be publishing a roadmap soon, which will contain more details on the approximate timelines in which you can expect the missing components to be available in Essential JS 2.
3. Is it too early to be using version 2 in a production setting?
We believe that Essential JS 2 is production ready starting with this recent Volume 4 release. We have also recently migrated several of our internal production applications to Essential JS 2 and didn’t run into any issues. However, the components will be kept in preview for one more release cycle since we would like to further refine the components based on feedback that customers may provide from now till the Volume 1 2018 release in February 2018.

Please let us know if you have any other queries.
