Any chance GoToBookmark can be added?

Hello,

We are using SyncFusion PDFViewer in our Xamarin application, works great but we were wondering if it will be enhanced (or if this can work another way) for the following functionality:

1. There is GoToPage() which is great for cases where we want to jump to a specific page but it only works if we don't reformat or reorder the pages. The PDFViewer on other SyncFusion platforms (UPW for example) has the GoToBookmark() function - will this make its way into Xamarin and Xamarin.iOS specifically. Or is there another way to do this?

2. Clicking on Bookmarks imbedded in the file also doesn't work (I assume for the same reason in as #1 - it hasn't been coded yet).

Thanks

Ed Barnes

Hi Ed,

Thank you for using Syncfusion products.

At present we do not support bookmark navigation between the pages in the PDF document using SfPdfViewer in Xamarin.iOS, Xamarin.Android and Xamarin.Forms(Android, iOS and UWP). We have added this to our feature request database.

We do not have any immediate plans to implement this feature. So we request you to visit our website periodically for feature related updates.

Thanks Satish,

This would be really really nice to have given that help files are living documents that change. The GoToPage only works if the page numbers don't change which is difficult at times to guarantee. I know I am the only one asking for it right now but it would be an invaluable feature to add.

Cheers

Ed

We have created a simple sample to navigate between the pages in PDF document using GoToPage method in SfPdfViewer in Xamarin.iOS and it is available in the below link:

We would request you to kindly provide the following details:

  1. Simple sample or modify the above sample with which you have tried to navigate between the pages using GoToPage method after reordering or reformatting the pages in PDF document.
  2. Essential Studio version
  3. Visual Studio version
  4. Xamarin version

The above details will be more helpful for us to analyze more on your issue and assist you with better solution.

The problem Satish is that the help file and the apps are separate. We can push updated help files which are downloaded by our app.

So this is the scenario:

1. App is version 1.1 Help File is version 1.1. Section A is on Page 3.
2. We update the Help File to version 1.2, Section A is now on Page 4.
3. We push the new help file to the cloud. Our users download the new help file but App version 1.1 is still expecting it to be on Page 3. If it was a bookmark, then it wouldn't matter what page it is on. Our help files are living documents and may change more than the app. Even if we released a App version 1.2 with the updated bookmarks we can't force the users to update their app. Hence the disconnect...

Hi Ed,

Thank you for your update.

On analyzing the scenario provided in your last update, we can achieve your requirement only by implementing the bookmark navigation between the pages in the PDF document using SfPdfViewer in Xamarin.iOS, Xamarin.Android and Xamarin.Forms (Android, iOS and UWP). We have already added this to our feature request database.

We do not have any timeline for the availability this feature. So we request you to visit our website periodically for feature related updates.
