How can ReportDesigner use an .xlsx as data source ?

Hi all & SF,

How can ReportDesigner use an .xlsx file as data source ?

if not possible, is there a trick to transfer the excel content to some intermediate format that ReportDesigner can use ?

Hi Fabrice,

Thanks for contacting Syncfusion support.

Yes, you can use excel file as datasource in our ReportDesigner.  In order to display the excel values you have to create a dsn using inbuilt odbc driver for excel and kindly refer the below steps to achieve this.

1.)   Create dsn using odbc driver to the excel Data Source, refer the below link for video and more details on this.

2.)   Run the ReportDesigner application in x86 (32bit platform) and design the report by adding ODBC data source with previously created dsn. For your reference we have attached a video which illustrates how to connect ODBC data source in ReportDesigner, RDL report, excel data and ReportDesigner sample and it can be downloaded from the following location.

Hi Fabrice,

Our report designer works in both 64 bit and 32 bit platform. If the Microsoft ODBC driver installed for 32 bit then it will works only in 32 bit mode, so we had suggested you to run in 32 bit version. Kindly refer the below link for more details on this.
