Why doesn't MetroColor do anything in ButtonAdv

I've noticed that for ButtonAdv and other controls, the MetroColor property does not seem to do anything. This is of course after setting UseVisualStyle = true and Appearance = ButtonAppearance.Metro.
After setting those properties, the only way that I can change the button's color is using the BackColor property (changing MetroColor does not seem to change the button's appearance).

What is the intended use of the MetroColor property in ButtonAdv? I could not find any documentation or examples.
