Editing Time in a Formview

Hi
I am trying to edit a time field in the edit template of an ASP.net FormView
Using the setting CustomFormatChar="G" in the code behind I can get the text boxes to show the time. This setting does not work in the markup.

I can insert Time data OK
Whenever I try to edit, the DatetimeTextbox reverts to dd/mm/yy 12:00:00 AM even though the underlying time is as I set it on insert

Appreciate your help
Regards
Michael
