Datasources

I'm evaluating the pivot grid but I'm confused as per the samples...

I expected one pivot grid control with multiple data sources, ie a collection or db or olap. Instead I see there is OlapGrid and PivotGridControl controls...

What is the reason for separate controls for separate data sources and do they have the same features? I need to be able to switch data sources on a grid that's customized the same what between them (colors, formatting, rules etc, not the fields the grid uses of course as they will be different per data source).

We would like to inform you that, the Pivot Grid Control is not designed to connect the cube’s data and it can bind only the Enumerable list and  the  OlapGrid which is exclusively designed to connect the SSAS cube’s data.

do they have the same features?

We would like to inform you that, some of the features in OlapGrid will not avail for PivotGrid and vice versa . Please refer the below given documentation link which illustrates available features in both OlapGrid and PivotGrid

WPF

SILVERLIGHT

OlapGrid

I need to be able to switch data sources on a grid that's customized the same what between them (colors, formatting, rules etc, not the fields the grid uses of course as they will be different per data source).

We would like to inform you that, PivotGrid would help you to achieve this requirement. Since you can use Collections, Enumerable list, DataTable.. as datasource for PivotGrid ( except olap)

Please let us know, if you have any other concerns.
