DatePicker and the VS Designer

When I bind the DatePicker's value to a DateTime field (like such: Value="{Binding dueUI, Mode=TwoWay}" ), the designer displays an error.

The error says "Input is not in DateTime format", although the dueUI variable certainly is a DateTime object.
Expression blend fails to render the entire interface, so I'm forced to delete the "value" property while developing.

Also, found another more concerning bug.

If the binded date is set to 'new DateTime()' (or 1/1/0001), the DatePicker will crash when you click on the control to make the popup open.
