TreeViewAdv selected border

With the TreeViewAdv I can set a lot of things but I don't seem to be able to turn off the dotted line that surrounds the selected item. It's really ugly, so I'd like to kill it. Any ideas?

There is a "KeepDottedSelection" property, which turns it off when the tree is not highlighted, which is basically the exact opposite of the behaviour I want.

This is 9.4.

I might owner draw if that will get me around it.

Quick update. I've looked at Owner draw. If I owner draw the background, the supplied Bounds are too small and you still get the dotted line.

If I do BeforeNodePaint instead I can overwrite the border, but that's a bit of a pain.
