Opening Excel 2007/20 files

I have a problem opening the new XML format of Excel files. Seems sometimes they will open and other times not.

I search here in forms and found one post on this here: http://www.syncfusion.com/support/forums/xlsio-windows/95784/importing-excel-2010-file-fails

In that post, the user was using 6.x and was told that the next version would be able to open the files. Well I am using 7.303.0.20 and still receive the following error exception info:

extLst

_COMPlusExceptionCode = -532459699

Am I going to receive the same answer, to upgrade to a newer version? Since this version is suppose to open the .xlsx files, will I receive help in working through this.
