Syncfusion® announces Essential Suite 1.6 for Microsoft .Net

Flexible Components provide for easy addition of complex features using Visual Studio .Net.

Research Triangle Park, NC - June 23, 2003 - Syncfusion®, Inc. today announced Essential Suite 1.6, the next generation of its popular Windows Forms components for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET developers. Essential Suite is a collection of the following component packages: Essential Grid (a cell oriented grid, fully customizable, with an extensive Microsoft Excel-like feature set), Essential Tools (a collection of powerful editor components, Visual Studio.NET-style docking component, powerful layout components, and several other components that allow you to add sophisticated user interfaces easily to your applications), and Essential Edit (an advanced syntax editor component with features such as syntax high lighting, multi-level Undo/Redo). Essential Suite 1.6 is fully integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio.NET version 2003 and takes full advantage of its developer productivity features, providing advanced designers and integrated help.

The industry has taken note of the tremendous productivity gains and flexibility moving to Visual Studio .NET. As legacy projects are ported, and as new ones are developed using Visual Studio .NET, there is an ever expanding need for quality extensible components. Syncfusion® Essential Suite 1.6 has solid, extensible, and field tested components that will greatly enhance and accelerate development adding value to any Windows Forms development effort.

Essential Suite 1.6 contains updates to Essential Grid, Essential Tools, and Essential Edit.

New features in Essential Tools

  • Advanced TreeView. Advanced fully managed TreeView control. Supports extensive formatting of individual items, grouped styles, and virtual mode.
  • Wizard Control. Create wizard based application with ease. Includes full design-time support.
  • XP Task pane. The Office XP alternative to a tabbed UI. Emulates the Task Pane in Microsoft Office XP.
  • Advanced Drop-down ComboBox control. Supports display of a custom drop down.
  • Double TextBox. TextBox that can display and edit double data type values.
  • Integer TextBox. TextBox that can display and edit integer data type values.
  • PercentTextBox. TextBox that can display and edit percentage values.
  • TextBoxExt. TextBox control that can display 3D borders and color borders.
  • Font ComboBox. Special ComboBox control that enumerates fonts installed on system.
  • Font ListBox. Special ListBox control that enumerates fonts installed on system.
  • Advanced StatusBar control. Supports hosting custom panels. Several pre-built display options are provided.

New features in Essential Grid

  • Advanced Banner cells allow you to combine the background of neighboring cells, e.g. draw a bitmap or gradient behind a group of cells.
  • New automatic Merge Cells feature merges cells holding common values into a single cell.
  • Support for cell level tooltips.
  • New Currency cell type.
  • New MaskedEdit cell type.
  • New RichText cell type.
  • Host any Windows Forms or ActiveX Control in the Grid with automatic support for in-place editing, display on screen, and printing.
  • New ProgressBar cell type.
  • Webbrowser control cell type sample.
  • Formula Engine adds support for logical operators <, >, =, <=, >=, <>.
  • Formula Engine adds support for Logical Functions And, Or, Not and If.
  • Excel-like argument selection.

New features in Essential Edit

  • Support for custom context menus.
  • Improved Intellisense support.
  • Editing support more closely resembles the IDE.

Syncfusion® has worked with Microsoft since the earliest beta releases of Visual Studio .NET 2003 to ensure that Essential Suite is seamlessly integrated.
