Introduction

ApplyMantra is a SaaS company that offers an end-to-end job-hunting system that helps job seekers discover postings that fit their skills and expertise, as well as score their resumes against applicant tracking systems (ATS).

Problem Summary (Before Syncfusion)

ATS programs often review a resume before any human eyes do. They act as gatekeepers to high-quality positions, simplifying the candidate search for employers, but the metrics that ATS programs use to filter applicants can be opaque. ApplyMantra founder Sameer knew he wanted to make the process simpler for job seekers so they could get their resumes past automated systems and into the hands of actual humans. He decided to use AI in a different way—to help job seekers understand why their applications disappeared into the ATS void and give them tools to tailor their resumes.

“In general,” he said, “our candidates who are looking for a job create different versions of a resume themselves. They try to beat the ATS, but there’s no single platform where they can search for a relevant job and edit their resumes to beat the ATS filters.”

To include a resume tailoring editor in ApplyMantra’s features, Sameer needed to find a secure, robust document editing component that could provide an editing experience while securely handling sensitive personal information. After looking at open-source options that weren’t as functional as he’d have liked, Sameer turned to Syncfusion and found the React DOCX Editor.

“Syncfusion helps us to give a very good DOCX editing experience to our users.”

BEFORE SYNCFUSION

Challenges

  • Open-source libraries that lacked the functionality and polish needed for a smooth editing experience.

AFTER SYNCFUSION

Solutions

  • Seamless, Word-like editing where changes to documents happen locally in a user’s browser.

Results Summary

Post-implementation, ApplyMantra offers an in-browser resume editor with precise formatting options. Instead of having to edit their resumes themselves over and over, users can employ an AI copilot to revise them and better fit the obscure ATS requirements behind every listing. The editing experience feels as seamless as working in Word.

Conclusion

As a startup with limited resources, ApplyMantra now enjoys a reliable, cost-effective set of document editing tools. Sameer noted that using the SDK has absolutely saved him time and money. He looks forward to potentially using the React PDF Viewer SDK since users often prefer to share PDFs.
