Introduction
In 1964, the Maldivian government established the State Trading Organization (STO) with the goal of strengthening national food security. It started as a state-funded business that purchased and imported food necessities. However, as the Maldivian economy grew, the organization expanded its imports. Today, STO is a household name across the Maldives, and a national business leader in several industries—such as building materials, consumer electronics, insurance, and healthcare.
Challenges
The IT team at STO was building a system for managing assets.
