Joining the demo team changed the way I approached both work and daily life. Earlier, I would attend meetings without much preparation and assume I could handle things as they came. But once I started interacting with customers, I realised that preparation made a real difference, especially when unexpected questions came up. 

That experience made me more organised. Before meetings, I started learning about the customer’s background, their previous questions, and their expectations so I could be better prepared. 

Over time, I came to understand the value of planning and how much it improves outcomes. I gradually carried the same habit into my personal life as well. Earlier, even for travel, I would make plans at the last minute and figure things out after reaching there. Now, I prefer planning ahead, whether it is booking early or organizing things in advance. It has been a meaningful change in the way I approach life.  

In the early days, customer meetings were something I was still getting used to, and I often felt more comfortable working behind the scenes.  

A turning point came during a customer discussion where I had to step in and help resolve an issue. At first, I was unsure whether I would be able to find a solution. However, I stayed engaged in the discussion, took the time to understand the actual problem, explored the available options, and worked towards a solution. When the issue was resolved and the customer was satisfied, it gave me a new level of confidence. 

That experience made me realize that I had often been overthinking situations. I learned that with proper preparation and a calm approach, I could handle customer interactions effectively and contribute meaningful solutions. It became an important milestone in my journey and helped me grow in confidence. 

When a situation feels out of control, I have learned not to force a solution immediately. Instead, I take a short break from the problem and focus on something else that I can make progress on. That helps me clear my mind and regain confidence. 

When I return to the issue, I am often able to look at it with a fresh perspective. It becomes easier to identify the next step, seek the right guidance, or try a different approach. 

Over time, I have realized that stepping back for a while is sometimes the best way to move forward. It brings clarity, reduces unnecessary pressure, and helps me solve problems more effectively. 

When I think about gratitude, the first person who comes to mind is my mother. I am also deeply grateful to my school Physics teacher, who supported me during an important phase of my life. 

Until tenth standard, I studied in Tamil medium. Moving to English medium in eleventh and twelfth standard was a big transition, and I found it challenging to adapt. During that time, my Physics teacher recognized my struggles and took a personal interest in helping me improve. 

Whenever I approached him with questions, he patiently guided me and encouraged me to keep learning. More importantly, he gave me the confidence to believe in myself and reminded me that it was always okay to ask questions until I understood clearly. 

Looking back, his support came at a time when I needed it the most. The confidence he helped build in me stayed with me, and I continue to remember his encouragement with gratitude.  

Some of the most meaningful appreciation I have received came from customers who acknowledged the way I handled demos and helped resolve their issues. Knowing that I had made a positive impact on their experience meant a lot to me. 

I also received encouraging feedback from the sales team, particularly about the clarity and effectiveness of my demos. Hearing that my presentations helped improve our chances of winning customers was especially rewarding. 

What made these moments memorable was the confidence they gave me. Early on, I often wondered whether I was doing the role well. Receiving appreciation from both customers and colleagues reassured me that I was on the right path and motivated me to keep improving. 

My advice to young professionals is simple: try before deciding something is not possible. Many times, we make assumptions or let doubt hold us back without making a genuine effort. Instead, give it an honest try and see where it leads. 

Every experience has something to teach us. If we succeed, it becomes an achievement. If we don’t, we gain valuable lessons that help us grow and do better next time. Either way, we move forward. 

I would rather know the outcome through effort than wonder what might have happened. As the saying goes, if you cannot run, walk. If you cannot walk, keep moving forward in whatever way you can. What matters most is that you never stop trying. 

One funny memory from my early days at work happened during my first week. My teammate Vijay Raja and I were asked to attend a meeting about a software called Direct Trac, which everyone simply referred to as “DT.” 

There was just one problem we had never seen the software before and had no idea what “DT” meant. 

Throughout the 45-minutes meeting, people discussed DT, escalations, timelines, and SLAs, while we sat there trying our best to follow along. After the meeting, our senior enthusiastically asked if we had any questions. Expecting technical doubts, he started explaining that he could help with filters, conditions, or workflows. 

After listening to an entire meeting about DT, we finally asked the one question we had been holding back: “What is DT?” 

The look on his face was priceless. He stared at us in complete surprise, unable to believe we had attended the entire meeting without knowing the name of the software. Even today, that memory never fails to make me smile.
