Workbook Protection

Hi,

Please see the attached snip, comparison of Excel workbook protect vs sf spreadsheet.

I provided a workbook protection for both sfpreadsheet and excel. My only intention is to avoid the user to rename the tabs, delete, and unhide.

When I open the file in excel, it does what is suppose to be done. User is not allowed to unhide, rename and delete sheets.

When I used sfspreadsheet, it feels like the workbook protection is nothing. It allows the user to rename, delete and unhide worksheets that are suppose to be hidden.

How to protect workbook like in excel?

We have confirmed the reported scenario “Protect option not working properly in SfSpreadsheet” is a defect and logged a report for this. We’ll provide the patch file for the reported issue on January 17th , 2021. We appreciate your patience until then.

We have fixed the issue “Protect option not working properly in Spreadsheet ” . You can download the patch from following location.  
  v19.3.0.53 
Recommended approach – exe will perform automatic configuration       
Please find the patch setup here:    

Advanced approach – use only if you have specific needs and can directly replace existing assemblies for your build environment                        
Please find the patch assemblies alone from:  
Please find the NuGet’s from the below location:  
 
 
  
Assembly Version: 19.3.0.53 
Installation Directions:  
This patch should replace the files “Syncfusion.Spreadsheet.Windows” under the following folder. 
$system drive:\ Files\Syncfusion\Essential Studio\$Version # \precompiledassemblies\$Version#\4.0  
Eg : $system drive:\Program Files\Syncfusion\Essential Studio\19.3.0.53\precompiledassemblies\19.3.0.53\4.0  
   
To automatically run the Assembly Manager, please check the Run assembly manager checkbox option while installing the patch. If this option is unchecked, the patch will replace the assemblies in precompiled assemblies’ folder only. Then, you will have to manually copy and paste them to the preferred location, or you will have to run the Syncfusion Assembly Manager application (available from the Syncfusion Dashboard, installed as a shortcut in the Application menu) to re-install assemblies.

Rest is working like spreadsheet except for the unHide option.

We can understand the reported issue from your image illustration. But we could not able replicate the issue in our simple sample. We have attached the video illustration and simple sample for your reference.  Please have a look at this sample and let us know if we have missed any customization done in your application. Otherwise try to reproduce the reported issue in this sample and revert to us with the modified sample and steps to replicate the issue. It will be more helpful for us to find the exact cause for the issue and to provide a prompt solution.
